How to practice

Press through your front foot and reach back through the lifted back heel. Widen your feet like two separate tracks and keep your hands on your hips. Bend the back knee a little for balance.

Benefits

Builds leg and hip strength while stretching the front of the rear hip and encouraging an upright torso.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Keep the front knee aligned with the toes and widen the stance for balance. Do not force the pelvis square or arch the lower back to raise the arms.
