How to practice

Bend your front knee and root through the outer edge of your back foot. Widen your stance so your feet are on separate tracks. Rest your hands on your hips and keep the front knee following the toes.

Benefits

Builds leg and hip strength while stretching the front of the rear hip and encouraging an upright torso.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Keep the front knee aligned with the toes and widen the stance for balance. Do not force the pelvis square or arch the lower back to raise the arms.
