How to practice

Kneel and place your palms shoulder-width apart, then rest the crown of your head on the floor to form a tripod. Keep elbows above wrists, lift your hips, and walk your feet in. Bring your knees onto your upper arms, then extend both legs upward with control. Press through your hands and breathe steadily.

Benefits

Challenges shoulder support, trunk control, and spatial awareness while balancing upside down. The three-point base adds coordination of hand pressure and head position.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Learn only with a qualified teacher; do not kick up or turn the head under load. Avoid with neck injury, glaucoma, or uncontrolled high blood pressure; do not begin this pose during pregnancy. Keep the elbows stable and never collapse body weight onto the head.
