How to practice

Rest your chest on a bolster and let your hips ease back. Add support beneath your hips or forehead until your knees and neck feel comfortable. Let the arms rest beside the bolster.

Benefits

Offers a quiet resting position and a gentle stretch through the back and hips. Supporting the torso reduces the muscular effort needed to stay in the pose.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Use cushions to reduce knee and hip bending. Keep the face clear and breathing easy; during pregnancy, widen the knees and avoid pressure on the abdomen. Adjust the bolster height so the neck stays relaxed and the abdomen is not compressed.
