How to practice

Keep your front knee bent as you reach your front arm up and back. Rest your back hand lightly on the back leg. Make the side bend small and keep your gaze forward if that feels better.

Benefits

Stretches the side body while maintaining the leg strength and stability of a wide warrior stance.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Keep the front knee aligned with the toes. Reach upward before bending sideways, and do not press heavily on the rear knee or pinch the lower back.
