How to practice

From Downward Facing Dog, place your hands shoulder-width apart and press through your fingers. Walk your feet in, lift one leg, then gently push from the standing foot to bring both legs above your hips. Keep your arms straight, press the floor away, and breathe smoothly.

Benefits

Builds shoulder and trunk strength while developing inverted balance and controlled weight bearing through the arms.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Learn with a qualified teacher and a planned safe exit. Avoid with arm or shoulder injury, glaucoma, or uncontrolled high blood pressure; do not begin during pregnancy or kick up without control.
