How to practice

Kneel and interlace your fingers on the floor, with your forearms forming a stable triangle. Place the crown of your head lightly between your hands and press firmly through your forearms. Walk your feet closer, lift your hips, and draw one knee, then the other, toward your chest before extending upward only with established control. Keep weight off your neck and lower slowly.

Benefits

Challenges shoulder support, trunk control, and spatial awareness while balancing upside down. The changed arm position challenges control over a less familiar support base.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Learn only with a qualified teacher; do not kick up or turn the head under load. Avoid with neck injury, glaucoma, or uncontrolled high blood pressure; do not begin this pose during pregnancy. A bound-arm base is not a shortcut for beginners; establish the exact arm placement with your teacher.
