How to practice

Rest on your back and bring your knees toward your chest. Hold behind the thighs rather than over the kneecaps. Keep your head down and leave plenty of room for a comfortable breath.

Benefits

Gently brings the thighs toward the abdomen and offers a comfortable stretch through the hips and lower back.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Hold behind the thighs instead of pulling on the knees. Avoid abdominal compression during pregnancy or after abdominal surgery, and ease off if breathing feels restricted.
