How to practice

Choose a supine preparation: rest on your back and hold behind your bent thighs. Keep your head down and let the shoulders soften as you breathe.

Benefits

Combines controlled shoulder-supported balance with hip rotation and coordination of the folded legs. Drawing the folded legs toward the torso increases the coordination challenge.

Who should avoid or modify

  • Requires comfortable lotus and a stable shoulderstand under expert supervision. Do not force the knees or turn the head; avoid with neck injury, glaucoma, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or pregnancy. Keep enough space to breathe; release the compact fold if the chest or throat feels compressed.
